Will you create the Climate Torch for Aarhus?

A torch which will shine a light and lead the way towards a carbon-neutral and sustainable society in 2030?

Which will inspire and motivate all of us to make a difference?

The City of Aarhus must be carbon-neutral by 2030. An ambitious goal which requires courage to seek new paths. We must convert green thought into green action. Motivate and inspire each other collectively to change. On this note we introduce the Climate Torch, which will travel across Aarhus and inspire change.

Aarhus Omstiller (TransitionAarhus) and Talent Aarhus invites young artists/creatives from Aarhus to send in their ideas for an artistic and sustainable torch to symbolize the green transition.

About the Climate Torch:

• The Climate Torch will be awarded to a person with a broad outreach and ability to inspire others and lead the way to the 2030 target.

• The torchbearer must create a new green community within three months. It could be joint efforts to save energy, waste sorting in workplaces, climate friendly neighbour dinners and everything in between. The torch comes with 5000 DKK funding for the actions and an obligation to share and communicate the initiative publicly.

• After completing the task, the torchbearer will hand over theClimate Torch to the next person, who should be engaged inthe green transition of the city.

• The first handover of the Climate Torch will be conducted by our Mayor for Culture and Citizens Services, Mr. Rabih Azad-Ahmad, at the launch of Aarhus Omstiller 19 March 2021.

About thecompetition:

• The Climate Torch must symbolize the green journey, Aarhus has embarked on and thus of course be produced 100 % sustainably. Recycled, upcycled, organic, natural materials (durable for the long haul, of course).

• Outline proposals for the Climate Torch should be sent no later than 10 Marchat noon via email to Talent Aarhus:

• The winning proposal will be selected by Aarhus Omstiller and Talent Aarhusand the winner will be notified on 11 March. The winning proposal will receive 10.000 DKK, which will also cover production of the Climate Torch.

• The Climate Torch must be ready to handover by 18 March.

• The winning proposal will be announced at the launch of the initiative on 19 March.
